Job Summary

As an Analyst, Credit Analysis at Northern Trust, you will play a vital role in evaluating the creditworthiness of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), trusts, privately held businesses, non-profits, and commercial real estate entities seeking tailored credit solutions.

You will analyze financial statements, risk profiles, and collateral structures to provide insights that guide personalized lending decisions. Your work will directly support relationship managers and internal stakeholders in structuring credit facilities that align with clients’ long-term financial goals while adhering to Northern Trust’s robust risk management framework.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Credit Evaluation – Analyze client financial statements, balance sheets, cash flows, and credit reports to assess financial health and repayment capacity.

  • Credit Memo Preparation – Draft detailed reports with recommendations that influence lending and investment decisions.

  • Borrower Monitoring – Conduct periodic reviews of existing borrowers to track performance, identify risks, and flag early warning signals.

  • Client Collaboration – Partner with relationship managers and global teams to design tailored credit solutions that suit diverse client portfolios.

  • Compliance & Risk – Ensure all analyses and approvals follow Northern Trust’s risk policies, compliance standards, and process guidelines.

  • Operational Excellence – Meet quality and productivity SLAs consistently while maintaining accuracy and integrity in documentation.

  • Market Awareness – Stay updated on macroeconomic trends, regulatory changes, and industry shifts that may influence credit risk.

  • Process Improvement – Recommend and implement changes to improve workflow efficiency and productivity.

Required Skills

  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements.

  • Basic understanding of credit analysis, risk assessment, and lending practices.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and financial modeling tools.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Internship or project experience in banking, finance, or credit risk analysis.
