Key Responsibilities
As an Associate Engineer / Engineer in Data Science within the Smart Manufacturing and AI (SMAI) team, your key responsibilities will include:
Designing and developing analytical models to solve real-time industrial challenges in manufacturing.
Applying statistical and machine learning techniques to build predictive and diagnostic models.
Working with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and transform them into scalable data solutions.
Extracting, cleansing, and processing large datasets using SQL and Python.
Developing and optimizing data science pipelines both on-premises and on cloud platforms.
Deploying machine learning models into production environments and monitoring their performance.
Building modern UI visualizations to present insights to business and engineering stakeholders.
Participating in the continuous improvement of existing data solutions and AI systems.
Collaborating with manufacturing engineers, data analysts, and domain experts to enhance operational efficiency.
Contributing to the creation and deployment of APIs for application integration.
Required Skills
To succeed in this role, you must have the following foundational skills and technical expertise:
Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, modeling, and scripting.
Experience in SQL and working with relational databases for data extraction and cleaning.
Solid understanding of statistics, linear algebra, and data visualization.
Familiarity with data preprocessing techniques, including handling missing values and outlier detection.
Hands-on experience in building and evaluating machine learning models.
Ability to work with time-series, image data, and semi-structured data formats.
Understanding of supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning methods.
Basic knowledge of cloud analytics environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Problem-solving and debugging skills in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration.
Preferred Skills
While not mandatory, the following skills will give you an added advantage:
Experience with web application development using JavaScript, AngularJS 2.0, or similar frameworks.
Understanding of OOP concepts in programming and familiarity with object-oriented design patterns.
Exposure to distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark or PySpark.
Knowledge of frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch for deep learning implementations.
Familiarity with Tableau or other visualization tools for interactive dashboards.
Understanding of manufacturing systems like MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
Experience in building REST APIs and integrating ML models with production systems.
Awareness of version control systems such as Git and DevOps practices.
Exposure to semi-supervised learning and changing data distributions.
Ability to work on multi-disciplinary projects involving hardware, software, and business operations.
