As an Automation Engineer at HeadSpin, you’ll play a crucial role in designing and maintaining automation test frameworks. You’ll work closely with clients and internal teams to ensure the performance and reliability of applications across platforms and devices.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation suites for mobile, web, audio, and video applications.
Execute tests and gather performance data across real devices and networks.
Assist clients in automation setup, data collection, dashboard development, and performance review.
Analyze mobile application behavior and report issues related to functionality, performance, and reliability.
Build internal tools for test execution and result analysis on Android and iOS platforms.
Contribute to the design of automation solutions to increase testing efficiency and reduce manual overhead.
Collaborate with engineers, QA, and product managers to develop testing strategies and ensure quality across releases.
Work with Python-based web services and agents (e.g., using Tornado) to extend automation functionalities.
Create technical documentation for reusable automation modules, best practices, and client-facing procedures.
Log, triage, and track bugs with clarity and follow-up until resolution.
Required Skills
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong foundation in software engineering, test automation, and mobile testing methodologies. The ideal candidate is someone who can think critically, troubleshoot effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced remote environment.
Solid programming skills in scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript.
Practical experience using automation frameworks like Selenium, Appium, WebDriverIO, etc.
Understanding of iOS and Android UI structures and familiarity with Espresso, XCTest.
Experience working in Unix-based environments including Linux and macOS.
Familiarity with REST APIs and backend testing workflows.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or similar.
Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and collaborative development practices.
Strong analytical mindset and debugging skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration capabilities.
Ability to handle multiple projects while maintaining high attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
While not mandatory, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable and will help you stand out:
Experience in performance and load testing.
Exposure to dashboard and analytics tools like Grafana, Kibana, or custom Python dashboards.
Understanding of cloud infrastructure and experience testing in AWS, GCP, or Azure environments.
Previous exposure to real-device cloud platforms and automated testing at scale.
Familiarity with monitoring tools for uptime, latency, and error reporting.
Experience with test result visualizations and automated reporting.
Awareness of compliance and security protocols in testing.
Ability to write custom test scripts and extend framework functionalities.
Prior experience in customer-facing roles or working with global enterprise clients.
Contributions to open-source automation tools or test libraries.
