About the Role

Citi is hiring for the position of Fullstack Java Developer in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. This opportunity is part of Citi’s Technology team and focuses on applications development, programming, testing, debugging, and system enhancements.

The role involves working with Java and related technologies to support application development activities. Candidates will also develop knowledge of Citi’s information systems, application development procedures, databases, network operations, and other technology areas.

This is a hybrid, full-time opportunity within Citi’s Applications Development function.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to applications development activities in coordination with the Technology team.
• Identify and define necessary system enhancements using knowledge of application development procedures and concepts.
• Conduct testing and debugging of applications.
• Use scripting tools and write basic code as required.
• Evaluate available options when situations are not covered by established procedures.
• Develop working knowledge of Citi’s information systems, procedures, and technology standards.
• Work with areas including client-server application development, network operations, database administration, systems administration, and data center operations.
• Serve as an advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts.
• Assess technology and business risks appropriately and support compliance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
• Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: The job description identifies this as an entry-level Applications Development Programmer Analyst position.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
• Java Skills: In-depth knowledge and application of Java and J2EE.
• Web Technologies: HTML/CSS, Angular, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, and Struts framework.
• Frameworks: Spring and Microservices.
• Core Java Concepts: Exception Handling, static blocks/variables/classes, OOPS concepts, Collections, and Multi-Threading.
• Application Technologies: HTTP sessions, session handling, Servlet/JSP lifecycle, actions, events, implicit objects, custom tags, and context.
• Database: Oracle database exposure on a UNIX platform, including database design, SQL scripting, and performance tuning awareness.
• Testing: Awareness of JUnit or TestNG.
• Servers: Awareness of application servers and web servers.
• Messaging: JMS/Kafka experience is a plus.
• DevOps: Exposure to GitHub, Jenkins, Lightspeed, Harness, or similar tools.
• Additional Advantage: Experience with transactional applications involving low latency and high availability is a plus.
