Certifications if any: Not mandatory; however, knowledge of Python, SQL, or Data Analytics courses is an advantage

As an Apprentice – Data Analyst, you will become a part of the Global Data Operations (GDO) – VIN team at S&P Global Mobility. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in data management, analytics, and operations, specifically focused on the automotive industry.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Conducting detailed research and managing complex datasets related to over 200 vehicle attributes in the North American market.
Using SQL queries to extract and analyze data, transforming outputs into Excel files for further interpretation and tool integration.
Coding accurate and up-to-date data into various internal applications and platforms.
Responding to client inquiries, resolving Salesforce case tickets, and providing root-cause analysis for data discrepancies.
Identifying potential process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
Supporting automation initiatives by scripting solutions for repetitive tasks.
Collaborating with global teams and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure data alignment and consistency.
Creating and maintaining documentation of processes, queries, and business rules.
Participating in team discussions, sharing knowledge, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
Delivering insights that enhance the value of S&P Global products for automotive clients and industry partners.
Required Skills
To be successful in this apprenticeship role, candidates should demonstrate a strong academic foundation, technical competency, and a passion for data. The must-have skills include:
Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL or PLSQL for data querying and transformation
Introductory skills in Python or similar scripting language
Strong attention to detail and ability to spot anomalies in large datasets
Good analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
Familiarity with data management principles and operational workflows
Ability to understand and interpret business logic behind data
Clear verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration
Capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to learn and take initiative on new projects
Preferred Skills
While not mandatory, the following skills and experiences are considered advantageous:
Background or coursework in Automobile Engineering, especially related to Mechanical stream
Previous internship or project experience in data analytics or automotive domain
Understanding of relational databases and data warehousing concepts
Exposure to Salesforce, especially in handling support or data-related queries
Knowledge of data transformation tools or platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx
Experience with automation frameworks or writing scripts for repetitive workflows
Familiarity with vehicle classification, specification databases, or industry standards
Strong interest in mobility trends, electric vehicles, connected cars, etc.
Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
Open mindset for working in diverse, global teams
