Job Overview
As a Data Engineer at Schneider Electric, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and systems to support data-driven decision-making. You will work with large volumes of structured and unstructured data, applying cloud-native tools and frameworks to deliver high-quality data solutions across departments.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with AWS services, Python, SQL, and big data technologies like PySpark. This is a role that offers immense learning opportunities and exposure to complex enterprise-level systems, all while contributing to sustainability efforts globally.
Key Responsibilities
Build robust, scalable, and reliable data pipelines that handle high-volume data ingestion, processing, and transformation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and business units to understand data needs and deliver high-quality data solutions.
Implement and manage ETL workflows using cloud-native services like AWS Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
Optimize queries and data structures for performance, scalability, and ease of access.
Maintain and enhance existing data architectures by introducing improvements in performance, reliability, and reusability.
Develop and maintain data lakes and data warehouses using tools such as Amazon Redshift and S3.
Ensure best practices in data governance, quality control, versioning, and security compliance.
Monitor pipeline health and automate recovery mechanisms for production workloads.
Write modular, testable, and well-documented code for all data engineering tasks.
Stay updated on emerging tools and technologies in cloud computing and data engineering domains.
Required Skills
Proficiency in Python, with strong knowledge of libraries and frameworks used in data manipulation and engineering.
Strong expertise in SQL, with the ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and manage relational databases.
2–3 years of hands-on experience in building data pipelines using AWS services including S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, RDS, and Athena.
Experience with PySpark for distributed data processing.
Deep understanding of data warehousing principles, ETL best practices, and data lake architecture.
Familiarity with data formats like Parquet, Avro, and JSON.
Exposure to tools for workflow orchestration such as Airflow or AWS Step Functions.
Comfortable with version control tools like Git and CI/CD practices.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating across teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience with streaming data platforms such as Kafka or Kinesis.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as Docker, Terraform, and Jenkins.
Familiarity with data quality monitoring frameworks like Great Expectations.
Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight.
Exposure to AI/ML pipelines and working alongside data science teams for model training and inference.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code and cloud provisioning tools.
