Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend systems that support PayPal’s global customer servicing platform.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, and engineers, to deliver innovative solutions that meet business requirements.
Work on optimizing high-performance APIs with sub-350ms response times and advanced caching strategies.
Implement secure, scalable architectures that support multi-tenant environments across PayPal and Venmo ecosystems.
Ensure compliance with internal and external security standards, including PPaaS ML5.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain high-quality development standards.
Contribute to the integration of AI/ML-powered capabilities for enhanced self-service support experiences.
Troubleshoot complex backend issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
Write clean, maintainable code following industry best practices and PayPal’s internal guidelines.
Actively engage in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and peer discussions to ensure continuous project progress.
Required Skills
Strong expertise in Java programming (mandatory) and hands-on experience with the Spring Boot framework.
Knowledge of Java EE technologies, Hibernate, JPA, JMS, and microservices architecture.
Proficiency in RESTful APIs, OAuth, JSON, and SOA principles.
Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
Familiarity with relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases.
Ability to write optimized, secure, and scalable backend code.
Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and version control systems like Git.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when debugging or troubleshooting.
Effective communication and teamwork skills in a global collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience with AI/ML-based solutions and familiarity with Python for backend development.
Hands-on exposure to large-scale, high-traffic distributed systems.
Understanding of payment processing systems, financial technologies, and regulatory compliance.
Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
Previous contributions to open-source projects or public code repositories.
Strong knowledge of advanced security best practices for enterprise-level applications.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps workflows.
Ability to handle evolving requirements in fast-paced, high-demand project environments.
