Key Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer I, Data Engineering at Poshmark, you will:
Deliver small to medium-sized data engineering tasks with minimal guidance.
Participate in design discussions and provide valuable suggestions for improvements.
Contribute to team code reviews, ensuring clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Own and maintain key data pipeline components to ensure smooth data operations.
Support larger engineering projects while collaborating closely with senior engineers.
Engage in performance analysis to help optimize data workflows and pipelines.
Ensure adherence to best practices in software and data engineering across the team.
6-Month Accomplishments:
Independently deliver small and medium-sized projects with minimal bugs.
Actively contribute to code reviews and improve code quality across the team.
12+ Month Accomplishments:
Gain ownership of at least one critical data pipeline or system component.
Participate in technical design discussions and demonstrate an understanding of design trade-offs.
Required Skills
Strong technical problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala.
Solid SQL skills – ability to write and optimize simple to moderately complex queries.
Strong grasp of core computer science fundamentals, including:
Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
Operating Systems basics
Database fundamentals
Exposure to ETL development, data pipelines, or internal tooling projects.
Preferred Skills
Experience in building and productionizing ETL pipelines or data systems.
Knowledge of distributed systems and cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Luigi, or Prefect.
Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in team settings.
