Key Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer II at FactSet, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of modern web applications. Working with both frontend and backend technologies, you will support high-quality client-facing solutions and ensure scalable performance.
Your main responsibilities include:
Maintaining and resolving bugs in existing application components.
Designing, developing, and deploying new features that improve system functionality.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth delivery of software.
Writing clean, test-driven, and reusable code aligned with engineering best practices.
Conducting peer code reviews and mentoring junior engineers where needed.
Working closely with product developers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Creating, reviewing, and maintaining documentation and test plans.
Participating in daily stand-ups and biweekly Scrum meetings to track progress.
Coordinating with globally distributed teams across offices.
Estimating effort for tasks and communicating progress transparently to stakeholders.
Supporting continuous improvement through refactoring and technical enhancements.
This role involves working with modern frameworks like Vue.js and Node.js, along with AWS-based infrastructure, ensuring robust and scalable solutions that impact global clients.
Required Skills
The ideal candidate should bring strong problem-solving, collaboration, and technical expertise. You must have a solid foundation in software engineering and the ability to deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced environment.
Key required skills include:
2–3 years of professional experience in software development.
Strong programming skills with Python, including libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
Ability to work with C# and .NET applications.
Experience with API development and integration.
Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, and Glue.
Knowledge of object-oriented design principles and best practices.
Experience with GitHub-based development workflows.
Ability to debug, troubleshoot, and optimize code for performance.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.
