Key Responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer on the Employee Services Technology team within Amazon’s People eXperience & Technology (PXT) organization, you will play a pivotal role in transforming how HR support is delivered globally. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Leading the architectural design and development of critical platform features that ensure scalability, security, and maintainability. These features directly impact millions of Amazon employees by providing personalized HR support powered by AI and cloud technologies.
Driving technical excellence by mentoring junior engineers, promoting coding standards, and implementing design patterns that enhance software quality and maintainability. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
Architecting and implementing AI-powered solutions that leverage AWS services to enable predictive support capabilities. This includes building automated workflows that reduce manual effort and improve efficiency in the HR support ecosystem.
Designing robust integration patterns to seamlessly connect multiple HR systems, ensuring data security, privacy compliance, and operational resilience.
Partnering closely with product managers and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into elegant technical solutions that meet both immediate and long-term business needs.
Leading cross-team technical initiatives, collaborating with engineers across domains, and facilitating consensus on architectural decisions that balance innovation with practicality.
Championing operational excellence by monitoring system health, setting up alerting mechanisms, and driving continuous reliability improvements to ensure consistent, high-availability services.
Required Skills
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, C++, or equivalent, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including experience in testing, debugging, and deploying production-ready software.
Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and familiarity with core AWS services like Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.
Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to design systems that operate reliably at scale, handling high throughput and large data volumes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders, conveying complex technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Skills
Experience working with AI, machine learning, or generative AI technologies integrated into real-world applications, especially in enterprise environments.
Knowledge of microservices architecture and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
Understanding of security best practices related to data protection, encryption, and regulatory compliance in cloud environments.
Familiarity with HR technology platforms or employee experience systems is a plus.
