  • Qualification: Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Applied Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Econometrics, Statistics, Finance, Physics, or Business preferred

  • Certifications: Not mandatory; certifications in financial modeling, Python, or structured finance tools are an advantage

Key Responsibilities

As an Analytics & Modeling Analyst in Moody’s Model Verification Team, you will work on the design, verification, and analysis of complex financial models used in structured finance. Your role will require both technical expertise and a deep understanding of financial products.

  1. Develop Complex Cash Flow Models – Use Moody’s proprietary software to build and verify advanced cash flow models for structured finance transactions.

  2. Interpret Legal Documents – Analyze transaction-related legal documents to accurately capture deal terms and translate them into model logic.

  3. Enhance Structured Finance Knowledge – Gain in-depth exposure to asset-backed securities (ABS), mortgage-backed securities (MBS), collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), and other structured products.

  4. Model Verification and Validation – Implement policies and analytical frameworks to confirm the accuracy, performance, and compliance of financial models.

  5. Ad-Hoc Analysis – Support the verification of Credit Risk Quantitative Tools (CRQTs) as required by different teams.

  6. Collaboration Across Teams – Partner with rating analysts, model developers, and research specialists to ensure alignment in modeling assumptions and outputs.

  7. Documentation and Reporting – Maintain detailed records of verification processes, model structures, and analytical findings for internal and external use.

  8. Continuous Improvement – Identify areas for process optimization and contribute to refining the model verification workflow.

Required Skills

  • Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in at least one of Python, VBA, C++, C#, MATLAB, or R.

  • Financial Modeling Skills: Understanding of structured finance and cash flow modeling principles.

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes quickly.

Preferred Skills

  • Moody’s Software Experience: Working knowledge of Moody’s Structured Finance Workstation (SFW) is a strong plus.

  • Structured Finance Exposure: Prior internship or project experience in ABS, MBS, or other structured finance products.

  • Advanced Analytical Methods: Familiarity with econometric or statistical modeling techniques.

  • Documentation Proficiency: Strong written skills for preparing detailed model documentation and verification reports.
